Chapter 8 - THE GUARDIAN'S REVENGE

Sophia recoiled, placing her body between the attacker and her daughter. The intruder reached out a gloved hand to grab Sophia's shoulder.
Out of the shadows of the master suite, a dark blur charged through the hallway with terrifying speed and deep, bone-rattling growls.
It was Bruno.
The massive Cane Corso launched himself through the air, knocking the intruder down onto the hardwood floor with violent force. The man dropped his weapon, yelling in terror as the hound pinned him to the ground, neutralizing the threat in seconds with absolute, protective ferocity.
Alessandro didn't hesitate. He secured the hallway, grabbed Sophia's hand in his warm, strong grip, and led them down the hidden stone steps behind the library fireplace.
The subterranean safe room was thick with reinforced steel and equipped with independent air and power systems. Once inside, Alessandro sealed the heavy door and turned to face Sophia.
Emma was crying softly now, startled by the noise and confusion. Sophia sat on the bench, holding her tight, her entire body shaking from the adrenaline.
Alessandro knelt down before them, completely unbothered by his tailored suit or his tactical gear. He took Sophia’s trembling hands into his own, his thumb gently caressing her knuckles.
"It's over," Alessandro promised, his voice low, steady, and filled with a fierce tenderness. "The estate is secure. No one will ever touch you or Emma while I draw breath. I swear it to you on my life."
Sophia looked into his eyes, seeing no longer the cold boss people feared, but a man who had put his life on the line to keep her family safe.
"Thank you, Alessandro," she whispered, tears spilling down her cheeks.

Emma peeked out from behind the blanket, looking at Alessandro. "Is Bruno okay?"
Alessandro smiled gently, reaching out to pat Emma's head. "Bruno is a hero tonight, small one. He saved us all."
