Chapter 6 - Bloodlines Exposed

At 5:15 AM, the heavy oak doors of the study opened. Dr. Marcus walked in, his overcoat damp with morning mist. He held two sealed manila envelopes stamped with red forensic security tape.
The entire core family was assembled. Arthur sat behind the massive desk, Julian stood rigidly beside the window, his eyes bloodshot from sleeplessness, and Vanessa sat on the edge of an armchair, clutching her damp handkerchief, trembling uncontrollably.
I sat with perfect posture across from Arthur, my hands resting lightly in my lap.
Arthur looked at Dr. Marcus. “Well?”
Dr. Marcus cleared his throat, breaking the seal on the first envelope. “The autosomal testing for the quadruplets—Noah, Ethan, Grace, and Lily Whitmore—shows a 99.999% genetic parentage match with Julian Whitmore. There is zero ambiguity. Julian is their biological father.”
Julian let out a ragged breath, dropping his face into his hands. His broad frame shook with a silent, devastating sob.
Arthur’s iron jaw tightened, his fingers gripping his cane until his knuckles turned white. He looked at me, a profound, uncharacteristic glimmer of remorse flickering in his ancient eyes. He had cast out the mother of four genuine Whitmore descendants for what he believed was a corporate shortcut.
“And the second envelope?” Arthur’s voice dropped an octave, turning deadly.
Vanessa began to weep aloud. “Arthur, please—let me explain—”
“Silence!” Arthur roared, standing up with terrifying power. “Marcus. Read it.”
Dr. Marcus opened the second file, adjusting his glasses. “The genetic analysis of the triplets—Leo, Mason, and Oliver—indicates an exclusion of paternity regarding Julian Whitmore. The probability of Julian Whitmore being the biological father is zero percent.”
The silence that followed was absolute.
Julian slowly lifted his head. The sorrow in his eyes was replaced instantly by a blinding, arctic fury. He looked at Vanessa as if seeing a venomous snake curled at his feet.
“Zero?” Julian whispered.
“However,” Dr. Marcus continued, his voice tight, “the system flagged a high coefficient of kinship. While Julian is not the father, the genetic markers indicate that the biological father shares fifty percent of Julian’s ancestral DNA. The father is a direct male relative.”

Julian stood frozen.
Arthur’s eyes turned toward the door of the study, where Donald Whitmore had just stepped into the room holding a leather portfolio, completely unaware that the results had arrived early.
