Chapter 7 - The Public Exposure

At four o'clock on Sunday afternoon, Meridian Dynamics issued an official corporate press release from their verified social media accounts, tagged directly under Vanessa’s viral video thread.

The caption was short, cold, and devastatingly professional:

“In response to recent false allegations regarding executive conduct and hiring practices at Meridian Dynamics, we are releasing the unedited security archives from our corporate headquarters and the regional university commencement ceremony. Meridian Dynamics maintains zero tolerance for corporate harassment, defamation, and fraudulent application practices.”

Attached to the post was a seamless, two-minute high-definition video package.

The first clip showed the graduation ceremony: Vanessa sneering, grabbing my offer letter, and tearing it into pieces while Mom held my arms, followed by Vanessa’s clear audio laughing, "Congratulations, Claire. Now we're both unemployed."

The second clip shifted to Friday’s lobby incident: Vanessa screaming at security guards, Mom shouting "You owe this family!", and my clear, calm refusal to abuse corporate power for nepotism.

The internet reaction was instantaneous and explosive.

Within two hours, the corporate response video amassed over 8 million views across platforms.

The public narrative flipped so fast it gave the internet whiplash.

Commenters who had previously attacked me flooded Vanessa’s account with fierce condemnation: - "RECORDED IN 4K TEARING HER SISTER'S DREAMS IN HALF?! This girl is evil!" - "The mother holding her back while the sister destroyed the paper?! That whole family is toxic!" - "She tried to get a executive job after tearing up her sister's offer?! The delusion is insane!"

By Sunday evening, Vanessa’s TikTok account was overwhelmed by hundreds of thousands of angry comments. Popular commentary channels picked up the security footage, dissecting her behavior frame by frame.

At eight o'clock, my phone rang. It was my father.

"Claire," Dad said, his voice heavy with emotion. "Are you watching this?"

"I am, Dad," I replied softly.

"Your mother is hysterically sobbing in the living room," Dad said quietly. "Vanessa deleted her social media accounts, but people are leaving reviews on her old marketing portfolio site. It's absolute chaos here."

"I didn't want it to go this far, Dad," I said honestly. "Meridian's legal team handled it to protect the firm."

"No, Claire," Dad interrupted firmly. "Vanessa brought this on herself. She tried to ruin your life on the internet, and the truth simply caught up with her. But... there's something else you need to know."

"What is it?"

"I filed for divorce this afternoon, Claire," Dad revealed softly.

I gasped, holding my breath. "Dad... what?"

"I should have done it ten years ago," Dad admitted, his voice cracking with long-suppressed pain. "Watching that graduation video again... seeing Susan hold your arms while Vanessa destroyed your work... I realized I've spent twenty years enabling a mother who destroyed one daughter to pamper another. I'm moving out tonight."

Tears pricked my eyes as I listened to my father.

"Where are you going to go, Dad?" I asked gently.

"I rented a small apartment near the university," Dad smiled faintly. "It's quiet. And for the first time in twenty years... I can breathe."
