Chapter 10 - Dawn on the Coast

Six months later, the morning sun rose bright and golden over the coastal cliffs, illuminating the grand gardens of the Moretti estate. White roses bloomed along the stone pathways, filling the air with a sweet, fresh scent.
In the master suite, sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, warming the mahogany floorboards. Bridget stood by the balcony, watching the waves crash against the rocks far below. She wore a simple white robe, her hair tumbling softly over her shoulders.
Victor walked up behind her, wrapping his powerful arms around her waist and pulling her back against his chest. He rested his chin gently against her shoulder, his breathing calm and steady.
“What are you thinking about?” Victor asked softly.
Bridget smiled, resting her hands over his on her waist. “I was thinking about the brass candlestick.”
Victor let out a soft laugh, his chest vibrating against her back. “I had it polished yesterday. It’s staying on my desk permanently.”
“It brought me into this room,” Bridget said, turning her head to kiss his cheek. “It brought me to you.”
“You were always meant to be here,” Victor whispered, leaning down to press a warm, lingering kiss against her lips.

Down below on the stone driveway, Marco waved up at them briefly before continuing his morning security walk. The estate was peaceful, fortified, and filled with a warmth that had long been absent from its cold marble halls.
Bridget rested her head against Victor’s chest, watching the sea foam glisten under the rising sun. The fear, the shadows, and the cold nights outside the door were all gone, replaced by a love that was absolute, unshakeable, and bound forever by midnight.
