Chapter 6 - Retribution and Dawn

"Hey, Falcone bitch!" Elliot shouted suddenly, stepping out from behind cover and firing a continuous burst toward Victoria’s barricade.
The mercenaries instantly directed all their fire toward Elliot, driving him back behind a heavy brass statue that sparked violently under the barrage.
That single second of distraction was all Julian needed.
Moving with unmatched agility, Julian crossed the ballroom floor, diving behind the central podium. He slammed his palm onto the biometric terminal beneath the desk.
*BIOMETRICS CONFIRMED: DON JULIAN MORETTI. INITIATING DEFENSE PROTOCOL.*
A deep mechanical thrum resonated through the floorboards. From the ceiling alcoves above the ballroom, concealed heavy-caliber suppression systems descended. Within three seconds, automated targeting lasers painted every Falcone operative in crimson dots.
Victoria’s eyes widened with sheer horror. "Fall back! Fall ba—"
The roar of the automated defense cannons drowned out her words. In less than ten seconds, the mercenary line was utterly dismantled. The remaining attackers dropped their weapons, hands raised in frantic surrender, while the automated systems locked onto them with lethal precision.
Victoria dropped her empty rifle, stumbling backward onto the shattered remains of the stage. Her face was smudged with soot, her tactical vest torn by shrapnel.
Julian walked forward slowly, his boots crunching on broken glass, stopping just inches from where she fell. Behind him, Elliot, Daniel, Allison, and Michael entered the room. Michael was clutching a wounded shoulder, but he was alive, and Allison was safely guarded by Daniel’s side.
Victoria looked up at Julian, breathing heavily, her arrogance finally replaced by pure, helpless despair. "Julian... we can negotiate. My father... he will give you anything you want. Half of our territory—"
"Your father’s empire ends tonight," Julian said coldly, pulling the unsigned trust authorization from his pocket and letting it flutter to the floor in front of her. "And you will spend the rest of your life in a maximum-security black site, answering for every drop of blood spilled in this house."
He signaled to Daniel. "Take her away. Hand her over to the federal task force along with Elliot’s drive. Let her family watch their empire crumble from the inside out."
"No! Julian! You can't do this to me!" Victoria screamed as Daniel dragged her away down the ruined corridor. Her desperate cries gradually faded into the distance.
The ballroom fell into an eerie, peaceful silence as the first rays of morning sunlight broke through the shattered windows, illuminating the dust and smoke drifting through the air.
Allison stepped forward, offering the handwritten ledger to Julian. "This belongs to you, Don Julian. Your father wanted you to have it."
Julian took the book, feeling the weight of decades of secrets resting in his hand. He looked at Michael, who stood with his head bowed, waiting for his sentence.
"You betrayed this family, Michael," Julian said softly.
Michael nodded, tears streaming down his face. "I know. Do what you have to do."
"You’re leaving the country," Julian declared. "You will go to Europe, under guard, and you will never set foot in this city again. You will manage our shipping docks there—honest work, no power, no cartel business. If you ever cross the line again, you won't get a second chance."
Michael fell to his knees in gratitude. "Thank you, Julian... thank you."
Finally, Julian turned to Elliot Ricci. The two half-brothers stood face to face in the golden dawn light.
"Vincent would have been proud of that turret trick," Elliot remarked, slipping his hands into his pockets with a slight grin.
"Vincent was a man of many secrets," Julian replied, extending his right hand. "It seems he left me one brother I couldn't trust, and another I never knew I needed."
Elliot looked at the outstretched hand, then gripped it firmly in a brotherly clasp. "So, what happens now, Don Moretti? Are we rivals, or partners?"
May you like
Julian smiled faintly, looking out over the rising sun. "The Falcone cartel left a massive vacuum in this city, Elliot. I think there’s more than enough room for two Moretti brothers to run it together."
Allison stood beside them, a warm, genuine smile touching her lips as the shadows of betrayal were finally burned away by the morning light. The long night was over, and a new era for the family had just begun.
