Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon

Three years later.

The sun was setting over the hills of Summerlin, painting the desert in warm, peaceful tones of peach and lavender.

I sat on the wide outdoor terrace of our new family home—a breathtaking, solar-powered estate overlooking the valley that Julian and I had designed together.

Sitting on a soft woven blanket on the grass in front of me was our eighteen-month-old daughter, Evelyn-Rose—named not for my mother, but for Rose, my late grandmother who had taught me kindness. She was playing happily with a set of wooden building blocks, her bright gray eyes filled with laughter and curiosity.

Julian walked out onto the terrace carrying two glasses of fresh lemonade, wearing jeans and an unbuttoned linen shirt. He set the glasses down, sat beside me on the teak sofa, and pulled me close against his side.

My phone chimed softly on the table.

It was an automated update from the Nevada Gaming Control Board confirming that Hale Gaming & Hospitality had officially become the first major casino corporation in North America to achieve one hundred percent clean-energy compliance and zero-corruption corporate certification.

I closed the app and set the phone face down.

I didn't need to check the stock prices. I didn't need to check the news.

I looked at my daughter laughing on the grass, then up at my husband, whose eyes held everything I had ever searched for in this life—truth, respect, and unconditional love.

My brother had pushed me off a roof into the black water, believing he was erasing my future.

He hadn't realized that the water wasn't the end of my story.

It was just where I learned how to swim.

And as the golden stars began to glitter over the quiet desert sky, I knew with absolute certainty that my life, my family, and my empire were finally, gloriously unbroken.
