Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Ambush

The headquarters of Sterling Logistics towered thirty stories above the city’s financial district, its glass facade gleaming in the crisp morning sun.

At 8:45 AM, Caleb walked through the glass double doors of the executive boardroom on the top floor. He wore a sharp charcoal-gray suit, his posture straight and unyielding. Beside him walked Bruna, dressed in an elegant navy blazer, holding a black leather briefcase.

Sitting around the long mahogany conference table were ten board members, along with Diane, Valerie, and Eleanor. Diane wore a silk scarf wrapped carefully around her neck, making a deliberate show of appearing injured, while Valerie sat with a triumphant smile.

“Caleb,” Chairman Marcus Vance spoke up from the head of the table. “We were not expecting your wife to attend this emergency session.”

“Bruna is a shareholder in this company through my personal trust,” Caleb stated, pulling out a chair for his wife before taking his own seat. “She has every right to be in this room.”

Diane scoffed loudly, crossing her arms. “She shouldn't even be in this building after her violent outburst yesterday! Marcus, look at the public relations nightmare she created! The company stock dropped two percent at market open!”

“The stock dropped because you posted a malicious, selectively edited video to slander my family,” Bruna spoke up, her voice calm, clear, and completely devoid of fear.

Valerie laughed condescendingly. “Selectively edited? The video shows you slapping my sister! You can't edit a physical attack!”

“You’re right, Valerie,” Bruna said smoothly, reaching into her briefcase and pulling out a small silver USB drive. “You can’t edit the truth. But you can hide it—unless someone else was recording the entire patio from another angle.”

Valerie’s smile instantly froze.

Bruna plugged the USB drive into the boardroom’s central media hub. With a click of a button, the high-definition projection screen at the end of the room flickered to life.
